HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z
HTC are to release two new mobile phones later this year. What were once known as the HTC Ace and HTC Vision are now to be called the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z. These are welcome additions to the ever-growing range of smartphones and we hope to see the usual features aswell as unexpected entries (3D anyone?)
The HTC Desire HD is expected to be a monster of a mobile and looks to include surround sound, HD video recording, 8MP camera and Xvid playback… etc
Mobile Phone Signal Booster Saves Time
Currently I have a job with a telecoms company in Chessington which is located in a retail business park surrounded by many other units. As you can expect we are always chatting to clients and suppliers on our mobiles and having reception is an absolute requirement for us.
I have even been called late in the night or on weekends because the clients we are dealing with are based around the world and working in different time zones. As well as this, some of our customers are very big international brands in the retail and telecoms world so we simply can’t afford to delay our response because we might give our competitors an opportunity to answer instead – and this is a capital offence here.
Recently though we moved to our new office and found that the 3g mobile signal on our phones is terrible. This is unfortunately not acceptable and an award was offered to the emplyee who found a solution this problem.
Seeing as we are in the telecoms business you would think that this is a simple problem to fix… But this is not the case unfortunatley.
After spending alot of time looking for a solution, we all came up with nothing because there are no mobile signal boosters, or mobile accessories in the UK which will increase signal strength regardless of the network you are on. Luckily though we are mostly on T-Mobile here, and we did have some luck with a product we found in America.
There is a company called Nextivity which started in 2006 that have developed some technology that will boost the 3g, and 4g reception inside a building and is easily fitted by anyone regardless of technical ability.
I took it upon myself to contact them and they said that they have a product which would fit our needs but they are not distributing it the UK or Europe at the moment. I convinced them to send a sample which they did and we heve been testing it ever since. The product has been here now for the past four months and I have found that it works extremely well. Our 3g signal has been increased greatly and we have been far more productive at work because we are able to talk to people and get our emails much quicker than before. This must have saved us alot of time in the long run so i would really recommend it you to try out.
When I last spoke to them they were going through testing with OFCOM and hoping to be approved so they can look to distribute the product through Europe and the rest of the world. Their website http://www.nextivity.co.uk has alot of the details you need if you think that this is something that could be of interest to your business. And, as far as I am aware you can pre-order it from Cleverkit.com as well.
Get Better Mobile Phone Signal
We all require our mobile phones all of the time these days especially when in the home and office, so we expect there to be mobile signal on tap always.
I myself expect coverage always and as my life relies so much on being obtainable at all times for my clients and for my social life, I am finding it surprising that nobody has addressed the issue of signal drop in buildings. What we need is a mobile phone signal booster.
There is a company called Nextivity Inc. (started in 2006) who have developed a baseband processor which is designed exclusively to maximise the transmission and reception of 3G wireless signals.
It has an IntelliBoost Baseband Processor which uses equalization, echo, and filtering, cancellation techniques to give great indoor data transfer rates as well as 3g connectivity. The ultra-low latency, high-capacity, IntelliBoost modem can boost the 3g signal in a way that makes it seem you were closer to the reception tower and achieve better signal-to-noise ratio.
The company have developed a system called Cel-Fi (also the name of the model I am using) . The unit consists of two part – the first of which is a Window Unit (WU) and the second is a Coverage Unit (CU). They are super easy to install and only require plugging in to the wall. The first unit sits on the desk and the other window unit sits in the window on the other side of the building.
In my office where I work every day, there are a number of us using t-mobile phones and we are all able to pick up increased 3g signal all day. The phone I use is a BlackBerry and the signal has moved from 1 bar to 4 bars with a similar increase on most other phones as well. I have also noticed that some people have also a small increase in general reception as well which is very convenient.
Some facts:
- Reduced Churn - Fewer dropped calls and higher data rates promote customer retention.
- Higher Data Service Usage – Improved data rates in weak signal areas encourage its use.
- Operator Specific – Integrated with the network through which the MSRB2100 was purchased.
- Significant increase in Network Capacity – serves formerly low signal level clients
- Self Installs with Low Support Cost – “zero option” automatic setup eliminates customer confusion
- Improved Voice Coverage – Allows subscribers to make crystal clear calls throughout homes up to 1,235 m2 (13,300 sq. ft).
- Easy Installation – No external antennas, coaxial cables or complex settings. Truly plug and play.
The Nextivity Cel-Fi 3g Signal Booster is an excellent product and more information can be read about it from their UK website – nextivity.co.uk and is available to pre-order from Cleverkit.com.
